Our Frequently Asked Questions
Can I have winter wedding?
Unfortunately at this time we can’t offer winter weddings. We think the property is absolutely stunning this time of year, especially after a fresh snowfall when the snow glistens like glitter in the sun.
The problem is that the barn is not heated. In fact, in the depths of February it’s difficult to even get into the barn given the six foot snow drifts up against the door.
What if it rains the day of my wedding?
If it rains, you can have your ceremony and cocktail reception in the barn. Typically this kind of decision is made the day of the wedding, as the weather changes quickly here in the hills!
How late are guests able to stay?
Guests are permitted to stay until 12:00am on a Friday or Saturday and 8:00pm any other day of the week.
Who’s allowed in the guest cottage?
The guest cottage is available for you and your bridal party only to get ready in. Please keep in mind that it is small and not meant for large gatherings of people but rather as private space.
Do I need a bus service? Can guests leave their vehicles overnight?
Busing is mandatory to and from South Pond Farms. Since it is not possible to guarantee guests will not drink and drive, we provide an alternate form of transportation to make your special event worry-free for everyone. This service will be billed along with other South Pond Farms expenses.
Any cars left on the property need to be picked up by 10:00 am the morning following your event.
Do I need my own insurance for the day?
Yes, you will need one day special event coverage. Should you not want to go through your personal insurance company (or if they do not offer coverage), Stewart Morrison Insurance in Lindsay specializes in this.
Am I able to have fireworks or sparklers?
Fireworks are not permitted. They can disrupt and frighten farm animals and potentially cause fires. Sparklers are a possibility, provided there is no fire ban in place. If you wish to use sparklers, arrangements must be made in advance.
Is there smoking allowed on the property?
There is smoking allowed in designated areas outside the barn and by the washrooms.
