Books
I’ve written short format cookbooks that centre around one theme and one menu. I include stories behind the recipes, tips for hosting and entertaining and individual recipes and grocery lists for each item on the menu.
Mother
Most of us have at least one mother. If we are lucky, we also have a community of mothers who have taken up prominent residence in our hearts: grandmothers, stepmothers, mothers-in-law, and close neighbors and friends who have influenced, mentored, or just been there for us in times of need. The first volume in the South Pond series, Mother, celebrates these women in our lives and offers an elegant, seasonally inspired menu based on fresh, simple ingredients that you can make for your special mom or moms. Included are my favourite spring recipes and tips for cooking a delicious meal, setting the right mood, arranging a perfect table, and even crafting special parting gifts for your guests. Enjoy.Love
I fell in love with South Pond the very first time we drove down the laneway. Set back from the road, the traditional Ontario red brick farmhouse, badly in need of repair, wasn’t the dream house I was hoping for, but I understood its history and loved how it was set among the rolling hills. When we got out of the car, a rush of country air, heavy with the scent of leaves and warm earth, hit me. I was home.
In volume 2 of the South Pond series, I’m sharing my favorite menu to serve to our guests who are celebrating their love on the farm. I hope you enjoy it with the people who mean the most to you.
Fire
At South Pond Farms we focus on food that has either been grown on the farm or locally, in our community. We also love to serve food fresh from the fire: grilled meats, vegetables, and even breads baked in our wood-fired oven. I believe in this type of cooking. I also just plain love it. Simple, flavourful, and delicious, cooking over fire fills me with a sense of tradition.
Volume 3 of the South Pond series celebrates my love of cooking over open flames and harkens back to quiet days spent at the cottage when everything prepared over the campfire tasted so good. Grilled flatbread, my Rattlesnake Ribs with Bourbon Barbecue Sauce, and Chile Cornbread are just a few of the farm classics I’m sharing with you. I hope you enjoy them.
