South Pond Farms

South Pond Farms was founded by Danielle French in 2008 as a small food delivery business making fresh prepared meals from ingredients in the garden and eventually becoming a destination for authentic culinary experiences. Offering farm to table suppers, weddings, celebrations, floral and culinary workshops and delicious homemade food that connect people to the land.

In August 2021, the farm was sold to new owners and continues to operate as an event venue. For inquiries for events and weddings visit Hollowbrook Highlands to learn more about the new owners.

History

After falling in love with a dilapidated farm in 2006, Danielle, together with her four young daughters, cats and dogs, left a comfortable city life behind to spend the next 12 plus years bringing love and life back to a sadly neglected farm and the land it sits on. The farm is on the Oak Ridges Moraine in the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe Mississauga.

South Pond started as a small food delivery business in 2008, making fresh prepared meals from ingredients in her garden. Together with her family, she restored the barn, the iconic heritage silo and the land to become a vibrant, working event space and destination for authentic culinary experiences, weddings, celebrations, workshops and homemade food products.

Over the next 15 years, South Pond Farms became a culinary destination attracting thousands of visitors every year from all over the world to attend farm to table dinners in the restored barn or in the fields.

Danielle and her team led a number of culinary and floral workshops on the farm, teaching people how to make sourdough bread, make seasonal arrangements and cooking classes.

In 2016, Danielle hosted the television reality television series called Taste of the Country, formerly on Netflix in eleven countries and the Makeful Channel in Canada where she shares tips and secrets, trials and tribulations of family life and work on the farm.

South Pond Farms was selected to host the Terroir Rural Retreat in 2019, Canada’s leading hospitality and tourism event where Chefs and producers prepare & serve some of Ontario’s best taste-of-place experiences.
